NBA Jam for PS3, 360 dated, price; will have online play

The once Wii-exclusive NBA Jam reboot will be hitting retail shelves for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on November 17, just in time for the holidays. While many folks were hoping it would be a downloadable title (it originally was, set to ship with the delayed NBA Elite 11), there’s a light — the game will sell for $49.99.

Online play, missing for the Wii version, will also be included. When the game launches, players will be able to hop online and participate in classic 2-on-2 games. But in December, a title update will expand the online features, allowing players to compete in the game’s “Remix” modes, as well as create a “Jam Party” session for up to four players. The online game will also get a progression system, where you’ll be able to level up by completing challenges as well as secret online “JAM Challenges” to unlock rewards and other hidden content.

I reviewed the Wii version of the game, and it was pretty good. With high definition visuals and online play (including those new modes), the PS3 and 360 versions definitely are looking like an improvement. Did you pick up NBA Jam on the Wii and now are wishing you’d held out?
