Katamari creator’s new company is called ‘Uvula’

Keita Takahashi, the mad genius (he’s at least one of those things all the time) behind Katamari Damacy and Noby Noby Boy left Namco Bandai some time ago, apparently bored with game development. Rumor was that he had left to design playgrounds for children, which is as noble a goal as you can have, really.

A Blogger site for his newly created company has popped up. In keeping with his trend of being delightfully strange, the company is called “Uvula.” The mission statement? “I want to continue fun activities and help somebody with fun people of the world along with my wife who is a composer.” Awesome.

It also seems as though Takahashi isn’t quite done with videogames just yet, as the “About Us” section of the site lists them as one of the primary products which will be created by Uvula. Here’s hoping for more wonderous and strange creations from the pair.
