Tokyo Game Show final numbers show a record 207k visitors

I knew this year’s Tokyo Game Show felt more crowded than usual. Now it all makes sense. A press release sent out by TGS officials says that they broke an attendance record this year with 207,647 visitors. On the floor we saw 194 exhibitors spread out over 1,458 booth partitions; 712 titles were shown off. This was the first time the attendance for any event at the Makuhari Messe convention center ever exceeded 200,000 people!

I remember the first public day, Saturday, being nuts. We know why now: there were over 80,000 people on the floor at once. There were a few times where I was really discouraged on the floor, feeling like I wasn’t getting anything done because of the crowds and lines. This press release makes me feel a bit less bad.

They’ve also dated Tokyo Game Show 2011. It will begin on September 15th next year, and will run through the 18th. See you there again!
