BioWare got hacked

Recommended Videos

You really don’t need much more than the headline, do you? Yep, BioWare is the latest publisher that’s had to email its users and let them know that “unauthorized access” has been gained.

The good news is that the hackers got as far as an old Neverwinter Nights server and there was no credit card information to be pilfered. The bad news is that user names, encrypted passwords, email addresses, mailing addresses, names, phone numbers, CD keys and birthdays for any accounts on that servers have been compromised.

BioWare has taken preventative measures to stop things getting worse, in what it calls “an abundance of caution.” Legacy accounts have been disabled and users are invited to make a new one.

Videogames. Hacks. Panic. Snooze. You know the score by now.
