Yes! I get to talk about Locomalito’s independent shmup Hydorah again! The response to this super slick, free-to-download game was exceptional last time; I’m hoping that wasn’t just some fluke.

The game itself rocks — and as an extension of this, the developer’s “making of” for Hydorah is quite fascinating. The document goes into the various facets of its creation, including: inspiration, design, sound, and cover art. They even have pictures of a sketch-filled notebook. Gotta have one of those!

Even if you could care less about the game, this is recommended reading (click here for the .pdf). I wish more designers put stuff like this out for our enjoyment.
