E3: What’s going on in this Afterfall: InSanity trailer?

I can see some Dead Space-like horror/adventure action, and that’s about it. The trailer is supposed to show scenes from a post-apocalyptic surface, while most of the game will be set in underground bunkers. I know it doesn’t show you that much, but bear with me.

Afterfall: InSanity is a game from Polish developer Nicolas Games, and is being billed as a “hardcore survival psycho horror.” The Afterfall universe itself features an alternate history of Europe where World War II had a different conclusion and in which Hitler launched a nuclear V2 rocket at Russia in 1945. This leads to a Cold War between the U.S., Russia and Germany.

In that world, a New Poland is founded that acts as a buffer zone. Eventually, New Poland is turned into a totalitarian state and German scientists create a new kind of bomb called “Entropy” in 2011. A year later it explodes over the English Channel and starts World War III, and decades later the game begins.

Sounds crazy? Yep! I’m getting a strong S.T.A.L.K.E.R vibe from all of it, so I really hope Afterfall: InSanity can deliver on creating a proper f*cked up atmospheric survival horror game. It could be a bit messy and buggy like a lot of games from the Eastern side of Europe, but it could just as well become a cult hit.

Afterfall: InSanity coming to PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 in Q4 2011. Let’s hope that means January, 2012 for Nicolas Games’ sake.
