Runic talks about outdoor areas in Torchlight II

Recommended Videos

Runic Games has a couple more teases for Torchlight II leading up to E3. On this specific Friday, the studio has honed in on level design and the game’s new environment types.

Lead level designer Patrick Blank goes into Passes, tighter areas used to connect zones. He also discusses Torchlight II‘s massive Overworld areas, which are much larger than the biggest levels in the original Torchlight. Of course, dungeons still come into play, and there’s the element of randomness to everything.

Art Director Jason Beck and Blank also tackled the community’s questions about level design, if you’re curious. There’s a good discussion regarding the improved editor in there.
