As much as I love Super Mario Galaxy, and as excited as I am about the sequel, I’m all about the plumber moving from left to right in 2D. It’s less about nostalgia and more about my desire to partake in simple, polished platforming. That’s why I was so glad to hear about 2D in Super Mario Galaxy 2.
Famitsu’s latest issue has a bit more on that. There’s a couple of screenshots of Mario moving in a 2D space in the Mushroom Kingdom. It looks great from the scan. In his 2D travels Mario encounters two Toad (or is it “Toads” plural?). It’s yellow Toad and blue Toad.
Wait, why call Toads by their generic names? We actually know their names, thanks to some investigative reporting by Jonathan Holmes. Last year, in our coverage of New Super Mario Bros Wii, Holmes was passed a serious off-camera secret: their names are Bucken-Berry and Ala-Gold. There you go. Destructoid Exclusive.
