Beyond Oasis developer making Mamotte Knight for Xbox 360

Ancient is responsible for one of my favorite Genesis games of all time, Beyond Oasis. Essentially Sega’s answer to The Legend of Zelda, it was a gorgeous little game with some interesting gimmicks and traditional top-down adventuring. It was a fine little game, which is why it’s so cool to see that Ancient is still kicking away, developing a new title for Xbox Live’s Indie Games channel.

It’s called Mammote Knight and it looks absolutely brilliant. It keeps things old school with a top-down perspective but pumps the action to absurd levels, with up to four players fighting off endless waves of monsters in a bid to protect the princess. Think Tower Defense meets Gauntlet meets Dynasty Warriors meets HUGE DRAGONS

Check out the trailer, which is absolutely mental. I really hope this game goes worldwide, and breaks out of the rather small-scale Indie Games channel. It looks too good to go ignored.
