We already know that Abe’s Oddysee and Stranger’s Wrath will get HD remakes and hit consoles as well as PC. Fans of the series will be pleased to know, however, that yet more goodies are on the way — specifically Munch’s Oddysee HD for PSN (and unconfirmed platforms), and Hand of Odd for tablets.
Munch’s Oddysee was one of only two sequels to continue the Oddworld Inhabitants’ original plan of having five distinct games based on five original characters — the incompletion of which still disturbs me today. It originally hit Xbox and PC, as did Stranger’s Wrath. Both are available in the PC’s OddBoxx, which has been confirmed as coming to PS3 in the near future.
The biggest surprise to me is the revival of Hand of Odd. I was a huge fan of Oddworld in my school days, and still remember intently reading about this game during math class. Unfortunately it got scrapped, and I never expected to see it again. Crazy to think that I’m talking about it for the first time since the 90s.
It’s a funny little industry.
