Must buy: Plants vs. Zombies hits App Store, only $2.99

PopCap’s Plants vs. Zombies is available today on the Apple App Store, and you should buy it immediately if you own an iPhone or an iPod touch. It’s only — are you sitting down? — $2.99.

Sure to be one of this week’s top App Store sellers, Plants vs. Zombies received critical acclaim when it hit PC and Mac earlier this year. We awarded it with an “Editor’s Choice” to match its perfect scores for the $19.99 lawn-defense title.

So yeah, $2.99. You simply must buy this. I spent some time playing this morning, and it feels wonderful on the iPhone’s touch screen, perhaps better than the keyboard/mouse set up on the PC and Mac. I’m finding it much faster (and more fun) to tap falling light seeds and place defenses on the lawn with my thumbs.

Did I mention this only was going to cost you $3? Stop reading this and go buy it. It might be the best value in gaming you’ll find this year.
