Valve announces ‘Steam Security’ user protection

Valve has announced a brand new way for Steam users to protect themselves — Steam Security.

The new option allows users to tie their account to a single PC, meaning nobody can remotely screw with your settings or gain access to your delicate personal information. Users will be notified if another PC attempts to infiltrate the account.

“Steam Guard will take advantage of upcoming Intel® Identity Protection Technology (Intel® IPT), an encrypted, hardware-based feature available with the new 2nd Generation Intel® CoreT and Intel® CoreT vProT processors,” states Valve. “IPT generates a new numerical password every 30 seconds, integrating into the processor functionality that previously required a separate card or key fob.”

Pretty good stuff, I reckon. Sounding good to you?
