Treyarch: PS3 fans happy with Black Ops, bugs will happen

Treyarch has downplayed the controversy surrounding the PS3 version of Call of Duty: Black Ops, stating that no dev can ship a bug-free game, but that “hundreds of thousands” of users are happy with what has been called the “inferior” version of the game.

“In an ideal would we would love to ship a completely bug-proof game,” said community manager Josh Olin. “I can’t think of a single developer in the world, though, that could achieve that.

“There’s hundreds of thousands — if not millions — of players on the PS3 who have absolutely perfect, pristine experiences. I talk to them everyday — I see @replies to me on Twitter all the time from people going ‘I don’t know what people are complaining about. The game is perfect for me!’ So they do exist. I know that doesn’t make the people who are experiencing problems feel any better, but it should put it into perspective.”

Olin added that quality assurance can’t compare to the amount of time gamers put in, and said that the game has had six or seven patches since release, which is a “lot of support.”

With all due respect, I’m not so sure that one can be proud of needing to release seven patches in three months.
