Are you a serial killer? Have a Wii!

High security British psychiatric hospital Broadmoor — famous for housing infamous serial killer Peter Sutcliffe — has apparently taken a delivery of Wii consoles worth £5,000, claiming that it’s all “part of the patients’ treatment.” The Wiis were paid for with British tax money.

According to British newspaper/comic The Sun, Peter Sutcliffe (AKA The Yorkshire Ripper) has been using the White Waggle Box to play ten-pin bowling. He is said to have been “watched” by murderer Robert Napper. As you might expect, the British tabloids are struggling to voice their immeasurable outrage.

“When you think of their crimes and the misery they have caused, you have to ask if it’s right for society to pay to entertain them,” says The Sun‘s source. “This cash could have been spent improving care in the wider NHS. In the meantime all we hear is laughter as patients play with their new toys.”

On the one hand, The Sun has a bit of a history with printing bullsh*t about Broadmoor (albeit with slivers of the truth) in its paper. On the other, however, British prisons are pretty notorious for pulling stupid stunts like this with their prisoners, giving them ludicrous luxuries in the name of reform. It seems that the idea of a prison being a prison dried up years ago.

Not that five grand would have meant f*ck all in the glorious waste of time that is the NHS.
