EA: Saboteur sequel could happen if first one sells

With the death of Pandemic and Electronic Arts not exactly putting its marketing weight behind the thing, a sequel for The Saboteur seems unlikely. Nevertheless, EA has said that a sequel could come … provided enough people buy the first game.

“We’re hoping they’re going to want Saboteur. I think they will,” says EA CEO John Riccitiello. “Then we’ll probably sequel that too.”

Bit of a Captain Obvious, here — since when has EA not wanted to make a sequel of something that sells well? Even so, it’s nice to see Riccitiello so keen on the idea of The Saboteur doing well. Perhaps the publisher could stand to promote it a little better rather than just throw it out there with no fanfare. The only way something will sell is if a publisher actually, y’know, sells it.

I personally hope the game succeeds, as I liked it a lot. Our review gave it an 8.5, which made a lot of people who haven’t even played it angry for no good reason (one even calling me a “f*cking snake” for daring to like the game), but it’s a worthy title and one that deserves far more attention than it’s gotten. Also, it has boobs in it, which is always a plus.
