Pitchford: Aliens: Colonial Marines announced ‘too soon’

Aliens: Colonial Marines was announced roughly ten thousand years ago, and very little has been seen of the game save for a few scant details scoured from the pages of old magazines. Developer Gearbox has kept quiet about the game, and seems to be far too busy working on things like Duke Nukem Forever. This has prompted CEO Randy Pitchford to admit the game was revealed a little too early. You think!?

“We’re very, very committed to Aliens: Colonial Marines and we’re very excited about that project. I know it’s been ‘radio silent’ for long and we know that must be frustrating for some people, but the game was announced too soon,” admits Pitchford.

“There was so much excitement and I know a lot has changed at SEGA, but they were very excited, they did the deal with Fox and before the ink was even dry they issued a press release announcing it. At the time we hadn’t written a single line of code yet.

“It takes time to build games, but it’s going great and I’m very excited about it. It won’t be long before we break radio silence and we’re able to show it.â€

Speaking as one of Dtoid’s two Aliens fans (Hi Jordan!), I’m still really eager to see more of this. Aliens vs. Predator was a big let down for me, and I’ve been crossing my fingers that Colonial Marines can give us something good. Just a shame they won’t be able to coincide with the Alien Anthology Blu-ray set that I am TOTALLY getting this month! OH YEAH!
