TGS: Holy crap … Vanquish has a story!

Recommended Videos

You could be forgiven for thinking (or even hoping) that Platinum Games’ Vanquish is just an awesome, balls-mental shooter about a space marine sliding about on his knees, and that there’s no plot tying it all together. This new “story” trailer, however, sets that to rights.

Apparently, the Russians have exploded San Francisco and want to do the same to New York. It’s up to our knee-rocketing hero, Sam Gideon, to put a stop to the red menace and save humanity from bald men who say “comrade” a lot. That’s about the size of it in a nutshell!

So far the plot looks less barmy than Bayonetta, and I hope it stays that way. Bayonetta‘s impregnably stupid plot was fine, but two narratives like that in one year is likely to kill me. Try to keep it slightly more reasonable this time, Platinum.
