Aero the Acrobat returns via Virtual Console

Recommended Videos

Do you ever have that experience where you’ve completely forgotten a game and then someone mentions it and all these awesome memories come flooding back about it. That just happened to me when I saw the news that Aero the Acrobat has been confirmed for a U.S. Virtual Console release this summer. The trailer above was quietly posted on YouTube and revealed the release.

You may or may not remember Aero all that well, but he was EGM’s best new character of the year way back when the game landed in 1993, and if my slowly returning memory of the game is any indication he deserved it thanks to some very creative platforming. There’s also the fact that he’s an acrobat. Get it. He’s a bat and an acrobat. They don’t make videogame heroes that punny anymore.

While I doubt this signals a true return for Aero we can always cross our fingers that the winged tumbler may rise again.
