StarCraft II to have 3D implemented post release

Recommended Videos

While most people will be buying StarCraft II regardless of its ability to function in 3D those with 3D monitors and 3D glasses shouldn’t have to wait too long to start playing the game in 3D. At a recent StarCraft II event in Korea (where a StarCraft II plane was revealed) it was let known to the world that StarCraft II would be receiving a 3D patch post-launch.

Speaking with IGN production director Chris Sagaty let the info drop by syaing, “We will be releasing 3D in the first few months, for those Nvidia cards and screens that support it.” An Nvidia rep also told IGN that they were “optimising for all systems” in order to make 3D work on as many as possible.

While the majority of people out there don’t have and probably won’t be getting a 3D computer it’s nice that they’re giving the option. If this is the impetus for you to pick up a 3D monitor and glasses it appears you could save a bit of money on the game as Best Buy is listing StarCraft II for $5 right now (in case that is down here’s a screengrab). It’s probably just a mistake with their pre-order stuff, but worth a try none the less.
