Platinum Games wants to make Star Fox at gunpoint

Platinum Games boss Hideki Kamiya has stated that he wants to create a brand new Star Fox game … at gunpoint. Apparently, it would not be enough for Nintendo to simply ask the Bayonetta developer. Despite seeming to really want to make it, Kamiya would rather make it after staring down the barrel of a .45.

“I want Nintendo’s staff to come to Platinum, stick guns at us and tell us ‘You guys make a new Star Fox‘,” stated Kamiya after learning that Nintendo developer Shigeru Miyamoto has expressed a desire for a brand new Star Fox title.

Kamiya also revealed that he was working on a 3D shooting game for Capcom many years ago, but when he discovered Star Fox 64, he gave up because the classic title was too satisfying and he felt there was no need for his own game. He praised Star Fox 64 for its unique scenario and “heated battles.”

Seems like he’s really fond of the series, so I have no idea why he wants to do it at gunpoint when it seems he’d happily do it under any circumstance. Maybe he’s got a real kink for hostage scenarios. Some people are like that, and they get themselves into all sorts of trouble.
