You know what scares the hell out of me? Diabetes. First, I’m a sugar fiend and the thought of having to restrict myself beyond what my budget already limits me to seems like it would be miserable. Worse, though, is the interminable pricking to get glucose levels tested and the administration of insulin. Needles are terrifying.
If I had been a diabetic child, perhaps this invention would have helped. Didget is a glucose reader that’s designed to connect with a Nintendo DS action-adventure game called Knock ’em Downs World’s Fair and reward players for regularly checking their levels with in-game benefits. Additional benefits can be earned by keeping the glucose test results within a range which can be set by parents.
The game and device launched in the UK last year and is set to hit Germany this month and the US in May.
