Nintendo Japan to package ‘mature’ titles in black boxes

Recommended Videos

Nothing screams “mature” like the color black, and Nintendo Japan is taking note.

Starting this year in Japan, the company will start packing all “Cero C” rated games (for those 15-years-old and up) in black boxes. This is addition to the gigantic “CERO C” label already found on the game’s box art, and would also apply to D (17+) and Z (18+) titles. According to Siliconera, it looks like Nintendo’s first M-rated title in Japan, Zangeki no Reginleiy will get the black box treatment.

No word on whether or not Nintendo of America will follow suit, but we’ll put in the word to find out.
