Rocksteady Studios is already hard at work on the sequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum (I hope to hell they don’t just call it “Batman: Arkham Asylum 2”). But thanks to a listing unearthed by a Joystiq tipster from the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) — yeah, I don’t get it either; I thought PEGI would be assuming game rating duties in the UK — it looks like a Game of the Year edition of Arkham Asylum is on the way. And why not? It was certainly a nominee for Destructoid’s Game of the Year 2009.
GOTY versions tend to collect previously released extra content into one simple, regular- or low-priced package, and while the BBFC listing mentions nothing specific, Joystiq speculates that an Arkham Asylum GOTY edition would include:
- “Insane Night” Map Pack (free DLC)
- “Prey in the Darkness” Map Pack (free; available on PS3 in US and PS3/360 in Europe)
- “Dem Bones” Challenge Map (GameStop pre-order bonus)
- “Crime Alley” Challenge Map (included in Collector’s Edition)
But if this GOTY edition sells for $59.99, it sure wouldn’t be a very good deal, since only one of those pieces of content (“Crime Alley”) technically cost money. (On the other hand, consider something like the Fallout 3 GOTY Edition, which included a full $50 worth of DLC on the $60 disc). We’ll have to wait to hear back from Warner Bros. and Eidos to find out what the deal is. In any case, if the price is right, is this something you might be interested in?

[Update: How could I forget? Commenter ‘z0mbiew0lf’ mentions The Joker, who was, of course, playable in the Challenge Maps exclusively on the PlayStation 3. The GOTY Edition could include that, too! -Samit]
