Better Armored Core 5 shots show sextuple chainsaw action

These days it’s almost standard practice for a Japanese publisher to have all its new game revelations leaked by crummy scans of Glorious Nippon’s favorite gaming rag Famitsu.

Such was the case with Armored Core 5, whose crummy Famitsu scans spoiled From Software’s countdown just yesterday. Today’s set of scans are thankfully not crummy, and their not-crummy-ness has revealed how From Software intends to get everyone hotted up for the new, slightly smaller mecha: by putting six burning chainsaws on them. Works for me!

Indeed, what I originally thought were melting gun barrels (that’s how crummy the scans were) are actually sextuple electric burning energy chainsaws. Better still, the shots showing the new mecha chopping up helicopters and the like with said chainsaws hint that the weapons themselves are back-mounted, freeing up the arms to dual-wield giant guns or more chainsaws or other crazy things.

Plus, a new promo was announced that will surely set fire to the boosters of (Japanese) Armored Core enthusiasts. Preorders Last Raven Portable – a PSP port of the PS2’s Armored Core: Last Raven – would come with a campaign code that can be redeemed for special Armored Core 5 DLC. In addition to that, Last Raven Portable preorders would include a 60-page artbook that contained the first images and design work for Armored Core 5. Perhaps those pictures include sexy sextuple chainsaws? I hope.
