Here’s how you blow up a building in Split/Second

Driving fast is neat. Blowing up stuff is neat. In Split/Second, Black Rock Studio is giving people the opportunity to do both these things at the same time — if their drifting and passing abilities are good enough.

In the above, we’re introduced to the “powerplay,” the mechanic that separates this racer from most of the rest on the market. When used, a catastrophic environmental collapse of a component on a track occurs, allowing you to get back into first place and snicker at those caught in whatever happens. If used at the correct time, you can even alter the entire track, forcing new pathways to be used.

Eat that, Forza 3*.

*Eating mechanics, soot, and rubble is not advised or endorsed by Destructoid.com. Eating blueberry muffins and toast is endorsed though — unless you have an allergy or something. If that’s the case, forget about that endorsement and go live in a bubble.
