Would you pay $10 for Lucidity? LucasArts hopes so

Downloadable games — no matter which platform we’re discussing here — are great and all, but it’s the highly-original nature of them that stands out to me. Forget about all of those high-def remakes of arcade classics for a moment, because that’s not what I am referring to. I’m talking games like LucasArts’ Lucidity.

The XBLA/Steam/D2D game was recently priced (via Shacknews) at the unexpectedly affordable $10 price point, which seems to be the magical cutoff point for most people when it comes to digital game downloads.

I myself am torn on the concept of Lucidity. I adore the art style, especially how both 2D and 3D elements are able to blend in together, but then we get to talking about the gameplay and I’m not so sure.

There’s something about the nature of these videogames that are so indirect in terms of player control; it’s almost as if the subject matter would be better suited for a different medium altogether, unfortunately. Am I alone in getting this feeling?
