World of Warcraft Faction Change service kicks off

The World of Warcraft Faction Change service went live today. Blizzard Entertainment announced the service’s “live” status and put out a two-part FAQ explaining the nuances of the switch, but it all boils down to this: for 30 bucks, players can switch an existing Warcraft character’s faction — Horde to Alliance, Alliance to Horde — and transfer over all their items and equipment to a new, but comparable character.

It’s like an MMO sex change operation.

Check out the FAQ if you’re an uber-nerd and just need to know what may happen to your socketed gems or honor points if you decide to switch. Otherwise, sit back and enjoy the chaos that may be the next few days of World of Warcraft.
