Battlefield 1943 hitting LIVE and PSN on July 8th and 9th

The wait is over. Electronic Arts’ and Electronic Arts DICE’s downloadable title Battlefield 1943 is hitting Xbox LIVE and PlayStation Network on July 8 and 9 respectively. In celebration of the impending release, EA passed around some cover art for the title and a fun little teaser featuring Guadalcanal and plenty of explosions.

Battlefield 1943 was a big hit at E3 this year. EA put the game’s camouflaged booth practically on top of the entrance to the convention center. Every time I hurried passed it on the way to an appointment I saw a massive line of people sitting on the floor waiting for a chance to walk into the funny construct. Apparently, the publisher was handing out downloadable codes and t-shirts in hour intervals in addition to letting fans play the game. Curiously, I never noticed a stench. Way to stay clean, Battlefield 1943 fans. Much love.

The PC version of the game won’t hit until September. It’s a bummer, but hey, at least you can stare at the box art below in the gallery. That’s better than nothing.

Anyway, EA DICE’s downloadable treat is looking gorgeous and impressions have been pretty good so far. How many of you are interested in this?
