When are mechs coming to Helldivers 2?

Helldivers, roll out!

Stratagems are at the heart of Helldivers 2. These abilities allow players to call in heavy weaponry, air strikes, and even automated turrets to make short work of the enemies of democracy. While they aren’t currently in the game, one of the most powerful Stratagems in Helldivers 2 will almost certainly be mechs.

At the time of writing, mechs aren’t available to all players in Helldivers 2, and it’s not known exactly when they will be added. Once they’re brought to the game, players will likely need to purchase them from the Ship Management menu. This is where all Stratagems are unlocked.

Players will probably need to spend quite a few Samples to unlock something as powerful as a mech, so it’s worth saving up ahead of time. Some have managed to find them in the game’s files on PC, while others have seen random players, presumably developer accounts, calling them into battle. Some believe the players adding mechs are linked to the title’s Game Master, Joel.

Developer Arrowhead Game Studios confirmed soon after the launch of Helldivers 2 that mechs would be added to the game in the near future. On March 5, 2024, the official account announced EXO-45 Patriot Exosuits are rolling out in production, ready for battlefield deployment soon.

We don’t have an exact date on when this will be, but the fact that it’s slated for “soon” indicates to me that mechs/EXO-45 Patriot Exosuits should be in the game sooner rather than later.

How could mechs/EXO-45 Patriot Exosuits work in Helldivers 2?

Since mechs/EXO-45 Patriot Exosuits aren’t widely available in Helldivers 2 at the time of writing, it’s hard to explain how to use them. Based on videos of mechs appearing in other players’ lobbies, it seems as though players must enter the mech/EXO-45 Patriot Exosuit and go through a short starting sequence before it can be used.

Then, the Exosuit’s various weapons, such as rockets and machine guns, can be fired limitlessly. While they deal a lot of damage, they still don’t make enemies such as the Bile Titan a piece of cake to cut through.

Although they’re not in yet, the mechs are confirmed to be officially available in Helldivers 2 soon. It hopefully won’t be long until we’re able to drop onto planets with some thundering EXO-45 suits.
