Street Fighter goes back in time

What is it about pixels that makes things awesome? Maybe it’s just the retro sensibilities of the hardcore gamer, but despite all the updated graphics and super bloom poly dithering shading thingies we still get all excited when something has only eight squares to it and looks like a pile of vomit. Case in point: taking Street Fighter II back in time to the days of the Atari.

In this parellel universe that Dylan Hayes has created SFII came out in the early 80’s, when primary colors and scratchy noises were enough to keep us happy. The thing is, if it ran smoothly and had good enough collision detection the game could play exactly the same as its modern counterparts. What it could never do is hope to express the wonders that are Chun-Li’s thighs.
