The team who brought you the acclaimed Unreal Tournament 2004 mod Red Orchestra: Combined Arms recently put out another game that started out as a mod, and it’s called Killing Floor.
Tripwire Interactive might not have beat Valve to the co-op survival horror punch, but the developer seems to be going in a different direction than Left 4 Dead, thankfully. Instead of offering 4-player cooperative play, Killing Floor supports up to six users, and rather than zombies, there are “experiments.”
Another cool aspect of the game is the persistent perks system, which converts Steam achievements you obtain into in-game character bonuses. While Killing Floor has been available on Steam since Thursday of this week, the lack of coverage here left me feeling guilty. At only $19.99, it might be worth looking into.
