Pre-E3 09: White Knight Chronicles sneaks out a trailer

Recommended Videos

Now this is a game that’s been waiting in the wings for quite some time. Level-5’s PS3-exclusive RPG, White Knight Chronicles, has been patiently tapping its feet for ages, waiting to tell the world more about itself. Looks like E3 is finally its time to shine, with a brand new trailer squeaked out just a few days before the show.

The game is being billed as the first truly online-enabled RPG for the PS3, and it sounds very promising indeed. The trailer looks like it has a few worrying clichés, most notably the classic boy-hero who appears to be fulfilling his destiny, but it looks pretty and the music is suitably rousing.

If the promise of a “unique” turn-based system and “robust” online play holds water, it could be a good one. Level-5 is a well regarded dev, so it’s safe to say the game’s in good hands. We’ll have to wait and see however, because it’s going to take a really good game to stop me feeling burned out on a genre that’s been treading water for far too long.

Hit the jump for the trailer. Hopefully we get to see much more at E3.
