Dawn of War II gets a patch, Relic working on a bigger one

Relic squashed bugs and tweaked elements in Dawn of War II earlier today with the release of patch 1.3.2. A monster, the patch is not — only minor fan quibbles were silenced — but it does serve as a decent band-aid while Relic finishes planning and implementation of patch 1.4.

Here are the notes for 1.3.2:

  • Adjusted the Orbital Bombardment ability to increase damage. Outer radius increased to 150 from 100.
  • Fixed an issue in the campaign where one point was getting auto-allocated at level-up if the player resumed an old campaign.
  • Made changes to the Mekboy mines. The mines now do drastically less damage and suppress infantry.
  • Adjusted lighting on 6P Tiber Outpost.
  • Fixed an issue where Guardian squads would switch to melee stance if upgraded with a Warlock, then with Battle Equipment.
  • Regenerated AI tuning data.

Unprompted, Relic teased big change in patch 1.4. “We are already hard at work on an official Patch 1.4,” Relic said in an update via the official Dawn of War II Web site. “It’s too early to give an ETA, however you can expect many bug fixes, a balance update, new maps, and some awesome new features.“

My experience with Dawn of War II has been extremely limited. Is there a need for a wicked huge patch, or is this just Relic reaching for perfection?
