Xbox-branded sneakers cost $4,000 … seriously

The dedication of fanboys knows no bounds, but this Xbox-inspired footwear would test the resolve (and wallet) of even the most dedicated “Xbot.” These custom shoes are not officially endorsed by Nike or Microsoft, but despite their unofficial status, the creator has been able to sell the things for a princely sum of $4,000.99.

“I have made shoes with 22k gold and diamonds on them,” explains Sole Junkie, the designer of the sneakers. “I look at my creations as functional art … not just ordinary sneakers.”

Functional art, eh? That’s a really snazzy term, but was such art worth the $2,500 asking price? Sole Junkie thinks so, and there seemed to be a fair few people with too much money and not enough sense who agreed with him. Thirty bids brought the sneakers up from $2,500 to the $4,000 sale price. Not quite enough to pay off the lawyers that Microsoft is sure to send Sole Junkie’s way.

So, how much would you have paid for these pimpin’ green kicks, and if you shelled out four grand, would you have ever dared wear them in public?
