Assassin’s Creed iPhone on the App Store right now

Remember that Assassin’s Creed game we mentioned a few weeks back? Yeah, it hit the App Store today. Assassin’s Creed: Altair’s Chronicles will put you back in the shoes of Altair on an epic quest “to end the Crusades” by stealing an object dubbed “The Chalice” from the dreaded Templars. (Tom Hanks is not involved.)

The developer, Gameloft, is promising around seven hours of action. We haven’t had a chance to check this out yet, but it’s a safe bet Gameloft isn’t pulling our tails with the estimate.

I haven’t the slightest idea how Assassin’s Creed will actually translate to a mobile platform as powerful as the iPhone. Have any of you had a chance to check this out yet? Do you even want to? It’s a long damn wait for Assassin’s Creed 2 …
