Frowny Face: Puzzle platformer Steal Princess delayed

Hopefully Steal Princess is on your “to get” list. If I wasn’t drowning in review code and deadlines we’d have a preview put together for you. That’s coming soon, I hope.

For now, know that this DS game combines action and puzzle solving on isometric playing fields that become increasingly more difficult. There’s over 150 levels to figure your way through as an eyepatch-wearing thief with an attitude. While I’m having fun, the game makes it clear that I’m lacking in sufficient brain power to clear these levels on anything other than the minimal level (bronze medal). Perhaps you’ll be better at it.

But you’ll have to wait to find out. Steal Princess was supposed to launch this month, but now it has been pushed back to May 19th. This move was in an attempt to move the game out of the April shuffle. Maybe the lovely included (with your preorder) miniposter, pictured above, will take off some of the delay sting.

Here’s the reason for the delay:

“Releasing a few weeks later gives us more time to familiarize gamers with this creative, original title,” stated Tim Pivnicny, VP of Sales and Marketing at Atlus. “Because Steal Princess will be available through fewer sales channels and in smaller quantities than other Atlus releases, finding the optimal launch conditions is critical to ensuring that this daring new release avoids getting lost in an already busy April.”
