Read comics ‘as the author intended it’ on your PSP

For those of you who are big into having all the content you possibly can on your PSP, SCEE is rolling out a download-to-own service for digital comics. According to Joystiq, some European consumers were polled over whether they’d prefer an a la carte or subscription service.

While news is slim on this, they’re most likely going to fall in line with traditional comics pricing scheme, which is around $3 per issue. The comics will have something of a panel-by-panel reading ability, which will allow you to read the comics “as the author intended,” or so says the promotional trailer.

I’m curious to see how well this will be recieved. As it is, I know manga and whatnot on the PSP is usually just achieved by shrinking down the individual files that people download from scanlations. I don’t know much about the European piracy market for comics, so this is one thing that I’m really up in the air on.

Can any of you European readers comment on your comic market? I’m interested in hearing what it’s like across the pond for all the mass-market titles.
