Rumor confirmed: Secret Agent Clank coming to the PlayStation 2

Thanks, Gamefly database — you led us in the right direction. High Impact Games’s PlayStation Portable title Secret Agent Clank is coming to the PlayStation 2. President of Sanzaru Games, Glen Egan, made that fact very clear today when he posted on the official PlayStation blog that his studio is handling the port. He also shared some screenshots of the game with the Sony community.

“High Impact Games put together an awesome game and we wanted to make sure that all the great gameplay moments from Secret Agent Clank were preserved from the original PSP title,” wrote Egan. “We have therefore focused a great deal of our time and energy on rebuilding all the levels, characters and effects to take advantage of the additional power of the PlayStation 2.” He added later that because of the transition to a controller, Sanzaru resurrected Insomniac’s Ratchet and Clank targeting system.

The game is due to hit store shelves soon — May 26, to be exact. I’m already considering a daring PS2 attic rescue. Are any of you willing to boot up the ancient console again? Or did you have your fill of the PSP version?
