While eloquent rockers like Oasis’ Noel Gallagher are busy taking a crap all over rhythm games such as Guitar Hero, the game is doing good over in West Virginia at the Kanawha Public Library in Charleston, where it has been introduced alongside Dance Dance Revolution as a free activity designed to motivate kids to spend more time at the library.
The Elk Valley branch in Big Chimney hosts the all-day game challenges every few months. Library manager Ellie Teaford commented “We want to give kids something to do, and think of the library as a fun place to go.” Also notable was that girls tended to be more attracted to DDR while boys preferred Guitar Hero.
I always thought the library was a fun place to go, but that’s the kind of thing bookworms with no friends always think. I have to admit I would have hung out at my local library a lot more if there had been an NES there (although I think they might have eventually gotten testy with me for that whole chewing the controller thing).
