Why no Blood Bowl on PS3? Too risky, says Cyanide

Blood Bowl is a game we’re fairly excited for at Destructoid, so much so that we sought out developer Cyanide for an exclusive interview. We learned a great many things, including how the customization works and the differences between real-time and turn-based modes. One thing we wanted to learn, however, is why the game is launching for PC, Xbox 360, DS and even PSP, but not the PlayStation 3.

“Cyanide is a small company,” the developer explains. “We have no previous experience on that platform [and] it would have been a bit risky and expensive for us. But, we are hoping to do a PS3 version if the game is selling well.”

It certainly looks strange to have Blood Bowl releasing almost everywhere but the PlayStation 3, and it’s surely going to put a few noses out of joint. However, it’s understandable that a small developer would want to shy away from taking such a big risk without knowing if the rewards are worth it. Hopefully Blood Bowl is successful enough for a future Blu-ray version.

Stay tuned to Destructoid, for we have the full interview with Cyanide coming soon.
