Konami says sales and profits are up, thanks to Sony systems

Thanks to PlayStation exclusive Konami franchise Metal Gear Solid and PS popular title Pro Evolution Soccer, Konami is enjoying increased sales despite this recession.

These games and others boosted North American sales by 155 percent, while Europe and Asia have also shown fair increases. In all, 22.35 million Konami titles were sold between April and December 2008.

It seems that Konami is really relying on Sony, as Edge says that 50 percent of unit sales in fiscal year ’09 were for the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3. The Xbox 360 and Wii only counted for 7 and 14 percent of sales respectively.

And likewise, how grateful should Sony be to Konami?

[Oops, not exclusive on the soccer. Thanks Dtoid readers!]
