Well there’s a kick in the teeth. Those of us waiting for ever-more elusive JRPGs that aren’t massively disappointing might have to wait a little longer, as Square Enix president Yoichi Wada has stated that the US and Europe won’t be getting Final Fantasy XIII until 2010.

Although the PS3 version is slated for a  2009 release in Japan, Wada is claimed by Reuters as saying that we filthy round eyes won’t be getting a sniff of the game. I imagine he’d have put it less racist though.

This game was announced in 2006 and there are only a handful of pictures and trailers to show for it. I was finally getting excited for it, but I’m not sure how long I can keep caring, especially as the JRPG genre has done nothing but irritate and sadden me for the past year.

If I have to deal with one more Infinite Undiscovery between now and FFXIII‘s release, I’ll take a massive sh*t in Wada’s hat. This is not a threat.
