Jonathan Blow’s Braid blew my mind. After I watched the credits and snivelled — not a traditional snivel, more like a series of fluid coughs with very mild weeping — I wondered what Blow would do next. According to an interview with the developer, a 2D RPG is in the works and it’s “looking very promising.”
Unfortunately, the game may not pan out. “My newest game I started is looking very promising, “ he told Gamasutra. “I’m very excited to do it. But if the patterns of history continue, then I may not be working on it a month from now, so I don’t want to start telling people about it.” He added, “It’s an RPG right now, a 2D RPG that I’m working on. You never know. Next month, it could be a Pac-Man clone or something.”
I’m salivating at the thought of an RPG, but I don’t want to be let down if it isn’t meant to be. How many of you would want a Blow-developed RPG? Or would you rather have a Pac-Man clone?
