And I would like to fellate the staff at Harmonix.*
In an interview with Ars Technica last week, Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopoulis expressed a desire to develop a new Amplitude title for the PlayStation 3.
“I would love to [make another Amplitude]. That game is still close to my heart. I love it. I’d love to do a sequel to Amplitude, actually. It’s an issue of prioritization. It’s challenging enough to keep the Rock Band train on the tracks.
Sony owns the series at this point, so the likelihood of seeing a new entry in this classic series of rhythm game on any platform other than PS3 or PSP is next to zero. Rigopolous does further comment that there has been a conversation with Sony about continuing the series, however, which gives this little fanboy the spark of hope needed to set my salivary glands fluttering.
If you have yet to pick up Frequency or Amplitude for the PS2, go and track down a copy this very instant. It’s the only game I have ever considered building a custom controller to play just because it’s so cool. Plus, Amplitude has a boss level featuring David Bowie and I think we can all agree that is the greatest idea ever.
