How to use a Zonai device dispenser in Tears of the Kingdom

Think of them like gacha machines

Ha! Nintendo found a way to add gacha to Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom! Thankfully it’s the cute, in-game innocuous kind: and not the one that forces players to “pay to pull” for 5-star characters they like. Here’s how to use Zonai device dispensers, and what they do.

At device dispensers, you can pay construct horns or Zonai charges to get capsules

Throughout your adventures (including a scripted sequence near the end of the tutorial zone) you’ll come across “Zonai device dispeners,” which basically shoot out devices that you can use to make exploration or puzzle-solving easier. Tools include things like fans to power vehicles, makeshift cooking pots, or flame emitters that can be attached to objects to create flamethrowers.

When you come across a device dispenser, you have the option to drop construct horns or Zonai charges into the hole at the bottom of the ramp to “pay” for devices. You can drop up to five items in at a time (in the same way you’d drop food into a cooking pot) by selecting them from your inventory. Each item will yield a device that you can store and use later.

To bring them out, go to the Zonai device portion of your inventory, select the device, then hit “take out device.” It’ll drop to the ground (outside of its capsule), and you can fuse or Ultrahand combine it to your heart’s content.
