The PlayStation Plus Premium offerings for April are looking super slim

PlayStation Plus Premium just confuses me now

In case you missed it, Sony altered the deal of PlayStation Plus last year and added a tiered system to the service. As a recap, you have PlayStation Plus Essential (the cheapest), Extra (mid-tier), and “Premium” (the most expensive tier), all of which have different bonuses and games. Let’s take a look at the April 2023 offerings today.

Here are the Extra PlayStation Plus offerings for April 2023

  • Kena: Bridge of Spirits (PS4/PS5)
  • Doom Eternal (PS4/PS5)
  • Riders Republic (PS4/PS5)
  • Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus (PS4)
  • Slay the Spire (PS4)
  • Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom (PS4/PS5)
  • The Evil Within (PS4)
  • Wolfenstein: The Old Blood (PS4)
  • Bassmaster Fishing (PS4/PS5)
  • Paradise Killer (PS4/PS5)
  • Sackboy: A Big Adventure (PS4/PS5)

Look, this lineup isn’t too bad, especially for a mid-tier operation like Extra. There’s an eclectic mix of newish games in there, as well as one “may as well try this and get sucked in” inclusion like Slay the Spire, which are the kind of games that help sell a service like PlayStation Plus.

Then there’s Sackboy: A Big Adventure, which is just a feel-good platformer that anyone can enjoy with their family: without having to spend MSRP on it. Playing The Evil Within and either getting sucked in or running the other way is also perfectly suited for a PlayStation Plus experience.

Here are the Premium PlayStation Plus offerings for April 2023

  • Doom (PS4)
  • Doom II (PS4)
  • Doom 64 (PS4)
  • Doom 3 (PS4)
  • Dishonored: Definitive Edition (PS4)

I think my grandma has a copy of Dishonored from one of the many services that gave it away for free: but that’s not really the issue here. Four old Doom games?! Premium continues to be a hard sell for a lot of folks, even many die-hard PlayStation fans. I love classic Doom as much as the next person, but I wouldn’t be surprised if your refrigerator could run most of the Doom series.

But hey, Sony! Don’t say Microsoft [Bethesda] never did anything for you, tossing all these games your way.
