How to get the Punisher in the Resident Evil 4 remake

Grab it early if you can

Recommended Videos

The merchant in the remake of Resident Evil 4 returns from the original Resident Evil 4, and he can sell you some handy items for the right price. For example, one of the first guns you can get, the Punisher, is a powerful and inexpensive weapon. Fairly early in chapter two, the merchant will help you escape the factory. Once you’re out, you can trade for the Punisher.

However, this particular weapon requires a different type of currency from your usual pesetas. You’ll need spinels, which you can obtain by doing some quick and easy tasks for the merchant.

Getting spinels

The Punisher will run you five spinels. If you shot down the blue medallions back at the farm, you should be able to turn in your request for three spinels. If you didn’t do that, head back and take care of it or you’ll have to wait longer to grab the Punisher.

You’ll also want to pick up the “Pest Control” request from the merchant, which will task you with killing three rats in the factory. Once you’ve completed that, head back to the merchant and turn it in for three more spinels. You should now have six.

Trading

After that, all you need to do is talk to the merchant. Select “trade” and turn in your five spinels for the Punisher. You’ll have one left over—maybe trade it for a treasure map. The merchant will thank you for it.
