Niki, an action-platformer in the ‘jump ‘n’ roll’ genre coming to WiiWare

Austrian indie developer Bplus has announced today that its WiiWare title, Niki: Rock ‘n’ Ball, will be available soon for 500 Wii Points.

Niki is an arcade-style platformer that Bplus are putting in the “jump ‘n’ roll” genre, because that’s actually something that exists. Other games in the “jump ‘n’ roll” genre include … well, I don’t exactly. Any game that involves both jumping and rolling in any fashion, I suppose.

As suggested, it looks like you’ll be controlling a round little hero named Niki, as you jump and roll around five dollars worth of areas using the Wii Remote. You’ll collect something called the ZeLeLi pearls to complete levels, transforming Niki between “rock” and “ball” forms to help you along the way.

If you want to see Niki: Rock ‘n’ Ball in action, hit the jump for the trailer.
