If a quickly-disappearing blog post by Factor 5 artist Sam Baker is to be believed, the developer hasn’t been immune to recent economic hardships, resulting in the cancellation of at least one project.
In a recent blog post, Baker spilled details on the company’s rough financial situation, including the loss of employee health care benefits. He explained that without proper funding, a project he had been working on was forced to stop production.
“Unfortunately, I was finally having a ton of fun working on it and we had made such insane progress that this was a total kick to the chest,” he wrote of the unnamed title.
On Sunday, December 7, Baker removed the blog and then attempts to clarify his statements. He writes that the project in question was not “a comic book superhero game” that was recently revealed in connection with the recent Brash Entertainment closures. Baker is referring to a rumored Superman title, thought to be in limbo after the publisher shuts its doors.
Regardless of the speedy deletion of the initial blog post (which can be read in full on NeoGAF), Baker was pretty clear about there being some financial issues at Factor 5. It’s a bit hard to misinterpret “we lost health care,” don’t you think?
Whatever the case may actually be, we hope all is well at Factor 5, not only out of concern for its talented employees and their families … but because a good Superman game sounds totally awesome.
