Nazi Zombies making an appearance in World at War

Many have bemoaned the fact that yet another World War II shooter is on the horizon. But what if a new WWII shooter had zombies in it? That’s exactly what World at War developer Treyarch was thinking. In the latest episode of GameTrailers TV Treyarch unveiled a cooperative zombie survival mode that stands outside the central game, but will be available in multiplayer.

The mode will consist of four players fighting against infinite waves of Nazi undead. The point is simple survival. Players will be awarded money to buy weapons from crates as they tear through zombie hordes and have the ability to buy objects like wood and sofas to barricade a central structure on the map.

Zombies will be able to tear down barricades gradually, so it appears to be of the players’ best interest to stick together and buy things at the appropriate time. There also appears to be some sort of revive mechanic present in the mode, but it wasn’t explained. Players will have to complete the campaign in World at War to unlock the zombie mode.

Unlocking it is a very small price to pay for something that sounds entirely too cool. What do you guys think? Are you ready to start blowing off body parts in the name of survival?
